Safehouse has been selected to participate in a Startup Showcase on Friday. The exhibit caps off Entrepreneurship Week at University of Toronto. We’d love to have you come visit us.
There are two things that we’re particularly excited about.
One, free food! The Startup Showcase will be taking place at the Goldring Centre on Friday, March 31 from 10am-5pm. The event is free, but you must register.
Two, we will have signage! Maybe I’m being a big stationery and graphic design nerd here, but we’re going to have a roll up banner. And oh, it’s going to be 77″ tall. I can’t wait to share it with you.
Three, you get to play “Investor for a Day.” Here is how it will work: During the Startup Showcase from 10am-4:30pm, visitors to the event will have the chance to “invest” in companies they choose. Each visitor will be provided with tokens that will serve as their investment capital. They can invest all in one company or spread it out across several. Each exhibitor will have a labeled cup on their table for the investors to put their investment tokens. Finalists will be chosen and their cups will then be weighed live onstage after the pitch competition (~4:30pm) to select the top three investments by weight and award prizes.
The top three teams who receive the most investment win a cash prize on stage:
- Series B (First prize): $500
- Series A (Second prize): $250
- Seed (Third prize): $100
